Allianz Insurance Phantom High Speed Camera Production
Canvas Films recently completed production on a large scale commercial for the insurance giant,Alliance. Working with co-producers from Korea, Canvas Films produced a 30 sec commercial for the American and Korean markets.
Canvas Films was successful in obtaining the historical Biltmore Hotel & Resort in Miami after several days of negotiations for the location of the commercial. Says Anthony Foy, Canvas Films’ producer, “We closed down the entire golf course for a couple days. It was a major undertaking and a very expensive one.”
The shooting style was very detailed as the highly respected and well known Director from Korea had very specific ideas in mind on how he wanted each shot. One of them required an extra early start for the crew so they could capture the morning’s first light.
“We were ready by pre-dawn and waiting for the first rays of sun to illuminate the Biltmore golf course. It was well worth the effort”, says Philip Ruesch, Director of Photography from Canvas Films.
The entire commercial was filmed using Arri cameras and Kodak 250 Vision2 film stock, except for selected scenes in which Canvas Films used the Phantom HD Digital Highspeed Camera capable of shooting up to 1000 frames per second. Canvas films shot at 500 frames per second to optimize the full 2k resolution.
